The 3 Stages of the Prison Island World Cup
Local Try-outs are set from 1st of July to 30th of September. The opening hours and available time slots for try-outs are decided locally. A team that wants to make a try-out for the World Cup should make a standard time slot reservation and register locally. Available time slots will be advertised locally. Specific rules for the tryouts can vary between the sites. The best teams from the try-outs are qualified to the Country Finals.
The best teams from the Local Try-outs are invited to participate in the Country Final where the best teams in the country are nominated and awarded. If an invited team from a local site, not want to participate in the Final, the second best in order will be invited. If that team is not coming either, the next in order will be invited, etc.Country Finals take place on 5 October. Exact dates for each Country Finals will be published on this website as it approaches.
World Finals take place 9 November. Qualified to the World Final are the best two teams from each Country Final. The World Finals will be held at Prison Island in Malmo, Sweden. If an invited team does not want to participate in the Final, the second best in order will be invited. If that team is not coming either, the next in order will be invited, etc.

To be able to participate you must be over the age of 15.
The Prison Island World Cup is open to anyone, except: Individuals under 15 years old or current Prison Island employees, owners of Prison Island sites, or close relatives of employees or owners.
The minimum age for participation is 15 years old. Make sure to have your ID ready.
Each team consists of exactly 3 persons. Individual competition, 2-person teams, or more than 3 members are not allowed.
An individual is not allowed to participate in more than one team.
There are no restrictions on team composition in terms of gender or age. Teams can be mixed in any way preferred. Keep in mind that you need to be at least 15 years old. Make sure to have your ID ready.
Participants in a team do not have to be nationals of the country where they compete. An individual can compete in any country they prefer.

Local Try-outs are scheduled from July 1st to September 30th. Country Finals will be held on October 12-13th and October 19-20th. The World Finals will be held on November 9th at Malmö, Sweden.

The Prison Island World Cup consists of 4 stages: Local Try-outs, Local Finals, Country Finals, and World Final. Specific dates, sites, and qualification rules may vary between countries and years.
The World cup will be held in English. There will be Arabic inside the cells with text and questions, and Arabic cell signs. However there will not be a translator for the duration of the trip.
To register for the Prison Island World Cup, a team must first book a time at their preferred Prison Island site and then register electronically at the desk at the Prison Island or via the website during the assigned period for try-outs.
There are no extra fees for participating in the event, but you still have to pay the entry fee for each local try-out.
Travel arrangements will be made for the teams qualifying for the Country Final.
Flights and accommodation will be managed by your local Prison Island for 3 nights stay for 8-11 November 2024. This does not include visa’s, outings and other expenses.

All games, including qualifications and finals, have a game time of 90 minutes.
If a cell malfunctions during a competitive event, teams should notify the game officials. The staff will make efforts to repair the cell. If not possible, a manual adjustment can be made to the scores for affected teams.
We sincerely hope there will be no injuries, but if a team member not can complete a competition by any reason, the other two team members are allowed to continue to the end. But they can not bring in a replacement during the specific competitive event.
There is no specific dress code for participants. However, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for physical activities.
The local Prison Island staff at each site, during the competition, has the full and final decision-making authority. Complaints should be directed to the Prison Island staff, who will review and make the final decision, which cannot be overruled.
No, the use of cell phones or any electronic devices is not allowed during the competition, to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the game.
The time never stops during a competitive event. You can take a break whenever you want, but the time will continue ticking and you will miss some opportunities to score points.
Maximum 24 teams will qualify to the World finals. The two best teams from each Country Final will be invited to the World Final.
Yes, but you can only replace one team member between two competitions during the whole tournament.
